Natural Acne Remedies

Natural acne remedies can help clear up your face without leaving your skin open to damage from harsh chemicals. This common skin problem can affect people of all ages and stems from bacteria and oil that gets trapped in your pores. One obvious method to avoid acne is to keep your face clean and eat right in order to minimize the presence of bacteria. But sometimes that's not enough and you may need external help.

Some acne home remedies are quite simple and involve basic household foods that you probably have right in your fridge. One of the most simple acne remedies is to try to keep your pores closed so that bacteria and oil can't get in. You can do this by wiping cold water on your face any chance you get and, of course, keeping your face clean.

Some other natural acne home remedies include simply rubbing substances on your face and letting it sit for a while then washing off. Some things that are thought to be good for relieving acne are:

  • lemons
  • tomatoes
  • garlic
  • witch hazel Just cut them open and rub all over your face - you might smell funny but you'll look better!

    Diet

Acne home remedies aren't just for the outside, you can affect the way your skin looks by what you put on the inside too! One of the easiest acne remedies is to drink lots of water - at least 8 glasses a day. Also, make sure you eat a well balanced diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables (organic if you can get them). Have a handful of seeds (preferably raw) a day and eat red meat in moderation. Avoid sugar, alcohol, oils, fried foods, processed foods and don’t smoke! Come to think of it, eating like this will not only be good for your skin, it will do wonders for your overall health and looks!

    Supplements

Add supplements to your list of acne remedies since your body needs to be in tip top shape to fight off the bacteria and you may not get all the vitamins you need from the foods you eat. Certain herbs like pine bark, bilberry, grape seed and green tea are thought to help with acne so take those in tea capsule or tincture. Add a good multivitamin to your daily regime and a fish oil supplement. Make sure your supplement contains the antioxidant vitamins A, C and E along with selenium. You may want to consider a zinc supplement as some have had positive results using this - check you're your doctor first.

    Skin Care

Preventative acne remedies include daily skin care. Obviously, you need to wash your face each day - stay away from harsh soaps, a natural soap is best. Avoid soaps that leave your skin dry and tight as this will only cause your skin to produce more oils. Periodically exfoliate with an Apha Hydroxy product to remove dead skin cells. Consider a Vitamin C or Vitamin E cream to nourish your skin.
