The Powerful Cayenne Herb
The cayenne herb is one of the hottest healing herbs and, some claim, one of the most effective. It's been used for thousands of years by Native Americans and in South and Central America and was documented as a spice in the 1400's. This stimulating herb increases blood flow to every organ and is said to improve the potency of other herbs when they are used in conjunction with each other.
It is the capsaicin that makes the cayenne herb so powerful. This is also the chemical that makes it hot hot hot. It is reputed to be an extremely potent blood stimulant that blasts it's way through your body concentrating on healing the weakest parts. It is used as a pain reliever, an appetite stimulant, a body temperature regulator, and to treat headaches, tooth aches and sore throat. It also works to raise the metabolism which makes it useful as a weight loss aid.
The cayenne herb has been used for centuries as a spice in cooking and can add a bang to any dish. It is used primarily in dishes with tropical origin and this may be because eating the herb actually helps the body feel cooler. You may not think so since it heats up your mouth, throat and stomach, but it works to stimulate the brain lower your body temperature. If you burn your mouth on the cayenne pepper or powder, milk can help to counteract the sensation - water will only server to make it worse!
The cayenne herb is useful taken internally and when used in a topical cream. It is a very powerful pain reliever when used topically and has been used to treat shingles, headaches, pain from arthritis and other joint pains, pain after surgery and toothache. It is not uncommon to have a burning sensation in the area you apply the herb to but this should lessen as time goes by. It should not be applied to open wounds as this will cause too much burning.
To get the full effects of the cayenne herb, a powder is better than capsules. It is said that the healing starts when the tongue experiences the blast of the herb and by taking capsules, you only get a fraction of it's healing powers. It is recommended to eat it with nutritious herbs and other foods so it can enhance their effects. If you are not used to spicy foods and herbs, you can start off with just a tiny bit and work your way up. One good way to benefit from this herb is to mix it in with other herbs, fruits and veggies in a juice or smoothy.
