Growing Aloe Vera - Plant Care
Growing Aloe Vera either indoors or out is not much different than growing other plants and aloe vera
plant care is quite easy. Aloes are semi tropical and, therefore, require a warm climate to be grown outdoors.
It you live in a colder climate, these plants also grow great in pots and will benefit from being outdoors in summer
and indoors in winter.
When growing Aloe Vera outdoors, plant them in a sunny spot. Aloes are very sensitive to frost so if there is any chance of a
frost, practice responsible aloe vera plant care and grow them in a container instead of in the ground. They will grow best in a
soil of medium fertility with good drainage. Fertilize each year with half strength fertilizer.
Growing Aloe Vera in a container is quite easy. You can keep potted plants right in your kitchen and have their soothing juices
handy for burns and cuts! Make sure your planter has a drain hole and fill the bottom with small rocks or gravel.
Keep the plant in a sunny location. Aloe Vera plant care is quite simple - water minimally in the winter allowing soil to
dry between waterings. Water more in the summer but don't soak the plant so that it is swimming in water. Plants in pots
can be fertilized once a year with fertilizer diluted to half strength.
Part of your Aloe Vera plant care for potted plants should include repotting to a larger pot. Aloe plants have a root systems
that spreads wide instead of deep so repot them in a wider, narrower pot instead of a deeper one. When repotting, simply remove
the plant from the old pot, spread the roots out as much as possible without damaging the plant and place gently into the dirt
filled new pot. Cover the roots with dirt and water thouroughly.
