Herbs For Shiny Hair
You can use many herbs for shiny hair, some particularly help dry hair, some help oily hair and some can just generally help your hair be stronger healthier and shinier. Herbal hair treatments are easy to mix up and much less expensive than salon treatments or store bought remedies. You can buy the herbs and other ingredients right in the grocery store and you don't have to worry about loading your hair up with chemicals and toxin!
Some great herbal hair treatments center around olive oil, sometimes mixed with herbs, for shiny hair. You can mix olive oil with eggs (about 5 tb sp oil with 2 eggs) and massage through hair or mix with equal parts honey and massage through hair. Cover the hair with plastic wrap or a shower cap for 15 minutes and then rinse.
Vinegar will help to clean and strengthen your hair so it is a good idea to use that as a rinse once a week or combine it with herbs that have steeped in boiling water.
Some herbs for shiny hair include: rosemary, burdock root, elder, chamomile, comfrey root, nettle, peppermint, lemon peel and lemon grass. Add herbs to boiling water and let steep for 20 minutes. Mix with 1/4 vinegar ( I like to use apple cider vinegar) and use as a rinse after shampooing.
Other herbal hair treatments include mixing mashed banana with almond oil as a hair mask, mixing 1 tbsp honey with ½ cup whole milk and use as a hair mask for 15 minutes – this is especially good for dry hair. If your hair is frizzy, combine 1 tbsp honey with 1 liter of water and use as a rinse after every shampoo. For split hair, coconut oil and lime juice makes a good hair mask and mixing orange juice (squeezed from a real orange), honey, water and a couple of drops of sandalwood oil are great herbs for shiny hair.
