Vitamin B12 Toxicity
Toxicity of vitamin B12 is rare - since it is a water soluble vitamin any excess is excreted by the body. Sometimes older people are given injections of vitamin B12 to help with energy and metal process and there may be a skin irritation at the site of the injection. This is minor and should go away in a couple of days.
Symptoms Of Vitamin B12 Deficiency
Like the other B vitamins, symptoms of a B12 deficiency can include fatigue, weak muscles, sore tongue, back pain and tingling in the fingers. Of course these can be symptoms of many disorders so please see your physician if you experience them.
Other Considerations
Take vitamin B12 with Vitamin C, other B vitamins, iron, calcium and potassium. People who drink too much alcohol, regularly take laxatives or antacids, are vegetarians or over the age of 60 may need Vitamin B12 supplementation.
